Making it easier for brokers to find the right product

LendInvest |  London, UK | August, 2023

LendInvest offers a broad set of mortgage products, each with their own criteria. During a period of rapid economic shifts in the UK, keeping all this information aligned across multiple platforms became surprisingly heavy work.

Internally, teams were updating the same content repeatedly—PDFs, website pages, Knowledge Bank entries, internal docs. It was slow, error-prone, and frankly not the best use of anyone’s time.

On the broker side, things weren’t much smoother. They received long PDF documents and had to manually dig for the criteria they needed. Many gave up and simply phoned the sales team for confirmation. The experience wasn’t intuitive, and definitely not efficient.

In short:
  • Brokers lacked a quick, accurate way to search LendInvest product criteria.
  • Internal teams were drowning in duplicated content updates.

LendInvest already integrates with Knowledge Bank—a widely-used comparison tool for brokers. But keeping the data synced was hands-on and slow. It also didn’t feel like a true LendInvest experience.

This created a clear opportunity:

What if brokers could search LendInvest’s criteria directly on our own site, in a tool fully aligned with our brand and far easier to maintain?

A streamlined search tool could simultaneously improve broker experience and reduce operational workload.

What if brokers could search LendInvest’s criteria directly on our own site, in a tool fully aligned with our brand and far easier to maintain?

I proposed (and designed) a LendInvest-branded criteria search tool:
simple, fast, and built to match the company’s visual language and tone.

Key Features

  • Unified search bar for instant access to criteria
  • Multi-product comparison, allowing side-by-side evaluation
  • Export & print options, so brokers could keep or share what mattered
  • Centralised content system, reducing duplicate updates and improving consistency across:
    • the website
    • Knowledge Bank
    • internal documents

Design Philosophy

  • Keep cognitive load low
  • Prioritise speed and clarity
  • Build on behaviours brokers already know
  • Make maintenance effortless for internal teams

This wasn’t a reinvention—it was a practical, brand-aligned upgrade built around familiar workflows.

Although the tool didn’t launch due to budget constraints, the project achieved several things:

For Brokers
  • A drastically simplified way to find accurate, up-to-date criteria
  • A consistent LendInvest-branded experience
  • Less reliance on PDFs or calling sales for clarification

For the Business
  • A single source of truth for product criteria
  • Considerable reduction in repetitive manual updates
  • Stronger consistency across external platforms

The project demonstrated that small, purposeful tools can solve disproportionately large operational pain points—especially in a market where accuracy and speed genuinely matter.

The entire tool was fully designed, prototyped, and ready for development.
Its launch was paused due to shifting budgets, but the approach remains a viable path forward for improving broker experience and internal efficiency.
